Reflecting on Our Journey

Preparing for Exciting New Changes

If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But by all means, keep moving.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

No matter what we seek to do, or challenges we face, we must persevere to achieve our goals.

WE CAN:

  • March forward and lean into what scares us.

  • Stop for a bit to collect our thoughts.

  • Look for a new path.

But please don’t stop completely. Change can be scary. Don’t allow fear to overwhelm your intentions.

“But, I’m not afraid”

Ok, we don’t even have to call it fear …

  • Perhaps it is stress, anxiety, or procrastination.

  • Perhaps it is a difficult challenge that wakes you up at night.

  • Or, perhaps your (team, organization, or family) is feeling fear.

If you’re tempted to stop or spin your wheels in place, it’s time to reshape the challenge in a way that invigorates new possibilities.

A focus on the opportunity (possibility) will bolster your positive steps forward.

BUT HOW?

It helps to have a clear understanding of what you’re trying to achieve and how it ties to the greater vision. Frameworks offer a systematic approach to reshape your thoughts into meaningful action and provide an easier (and more comprehensive) path to implement change.

Organizations focus on our Mission, Vision, and Values (MVV) to give us a sense of direction. Each goal, program, and service should ultimately be in service of delivering our MVV. To be most effective, we also want to embrace our team members’ individual goals and contributions as valuable elements of HOW we will collectively navigate change.

Even something as simple as choosing a word of the year can give you a focus. If you haven’t picked yours, start there.  It doesn’t have to be perfect; it is simply a reminder of your intentions.

Example:  Words of the year from 2018 – 2024

One of my goals when creating this newsletter was to inspire each one of you to “know your value, live your values” and ultimately keep moving. It can be exhilarating, but it also takes courage.  I hope the journey so far has given you a bit of both.

Next month I am thrilled to introduce my personal Framework to help YOU achieve success.

Decades of experience in Supply Chain, Project, Product, Program, Partnership and Nonprofit Management has led me to develop a framework that can be applied to any challenge or change whether personal or in business.

In the meantime, if you’re a purpose-driven leader and you’re not sure how you’re going to address a challenge to ‘engage with change’, reach out. Let’s get started now.
