When Fear Crept In

When fear crept in

I didn't recognize it at first
It merely felt uncomfortable
But it crept in like it belonged
And I welcomed it unknowingly

It had a place
But the place was not of my choosing

Many days and experiences
Have since passed by
My recognition of you
Is bold and new

I don't fear 'fear' anymore
As I recognize it does have its place

It opens my eyes
To see beyond the obvious

It opens my ears
To hear the whispers once glossed over

It opens my heart
To the boldness of my presence on this planet

Hello fear
The door is open
No need to creep in this time
I plan to greet you with open arms

You might appear cold and daunting
But the warning you offer
Is worth the contemplation and action
That I know I will deliver

You see, I know I will deliver

And you do belong
For a moment
As a catalyst
But no longer as a keeper

For I have transformed you into more
As I have transformed myself in your presence
