Marshall and the Rising Sun

Seeking to remember
I close my eyes
You appear again

Cool, crisp, connectedness
With an old soul
And a knowing glance

Unique, a mystery
Connection breached
As the day closed down

Acquaintances turned friends
Understanding
A moment in time

Knowing and not knowing
Until in trust
The sun rose with us

Waves crashed as the rays burst through
Yesterday’s clouds
Humor turned to warmth

You saw through my haze
Of seventeen
Smiles, fears, and sorrow

Your mystery melted
As you appeared
Simply as you are

Realizing stillness
Can open doors
Sand glowing in light

We didn’t need to be
Anything more
Than present in time

Connecting a season
To a lifetime
We remained something

Understanding without
Explanation
Something is enough

Threads can last a lifetime
Without trying
Created in light

I will remember you

Goodbye my friend, thank you for watching the sunrise with me and having our connection last a lifetime in our own quiet way. "Marshall and the Rising Sun", may you rest in peace.
